Our textile seal for safety.
VAN GRAAF has sought out suitable partners for implementing its sustainability goals. These include global enterprises and their reliable seals and certificates that accompany us from cultivation to the dressing room.
Details about additional seals and certificates can be found here.
We are GOTS-certified.
Another important aspect of sustainability is the issue of how environmentally friendly and socially fair the delivery chain has been designed until a customer can wear their favorite clothing item from VAN GRAAF. We label the corresponding products with our independent GOTS certification: it demonstrates that this product has met very high standards in terms of quality and sustainability throughout the entire supply chain.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the leading global standard for processing textiles from organically cultivated natural fibers. GOTS covers the entire production chain at a very high level—from the cultivation of raw materials to environmentally and socially friendly production and even the sale of GOTS-certified textiles. A product with a GOTS seal must contain at least 70 % certified organic fibers.
GOTS differentiates between the following categories:
- Made with organic materials: Must contain at least 70-94 % organic cotton.
- Organic: Requires at least 95 % organic cotton.
You can learn more about the standards and backstory of the GOTS certificate here.
We protect cashmere goats.
Premium textiles can also be made of animal products such as cashmere wool. As a member of the Good Cashmere Standard®, an initiative by the Aid by Trade Foundation, we actively participate in the treatment and well-being of cashmere goats.
The independent Good Cashmere Standard® establishes a new standard for sustainable cashmere. Certified cashmere farms must keep their goats under species-appropriate living conditions and give their workers socially just conditions with fair wages. Furthermore, management must act responsibly, from breeding to wool processing and even transportation. By doing so, the initiative pursues its goal of promoting animal and environmental protection and improving the working conditions of the people who work with cashmere goats and their products.
